Amazon’s Prime Video gets exclusive rights to NFL ‘Black Friday’ game in 2023
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc is getting exclusive rights to broadcast a regular season NFL game in 2023, according to news reports.
Amazon was granted the exclusive rights to air the 2018 game between the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions at an NFL stadium in Oakland, California. The deal will keep NFL games on Amazon Prime Video.
The rights deal between Amazon and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell comes a few months after Amazon was granted the exclusive TV rights to the 2019 Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams in Los Angeles.
Amazon and NBC are also negotiating for the exclusive streaming rights to a second Super Bowl game that would be played at San Diego’s Qualcomm stadium in 2020. Goodell has said he plans to have a second Super Bowl game in Los Angeles in 2020.
The NFL announced last week that it expects to bring back the Super Bowl for the first time in over a century.
The NFL previously announced Amazon would have first rights to the 2020 and 2021 seasons. NFL Network will have exclusivity rights to the 2020 and 2021 seasons, NBC previously announced.
