Ronaldo becomes 1st male player to score at 5 World Cups after Colombia’s Gabriel Jesus
The world’s most celebrated athlete, Cristiano Ronaldo, has become the first man to score at five World Cups – with two different teams.
The Portuguese star became the first player to do so when he netted against Colombia in a thrilling 3-2 victory in Kiev on Tuesday. He then scored twice in his side’s 6-1 thrashing of Croatia.

In one of the most dramatic games of the tournament, Ronaldo added: ‘I think the most surprising thing was probably the match against Croatia.
‘We were playing in a really interesting way and I think we played better when we got the third goal and we were getting the ball, but we were a little bit unlucky and we got punished – and we deserved to.
‘And then, even before that, we had a few chances to score and we had an awful lot of pressure on us to win the game but we did and it’s a great success.’
The match ended in a draw and the score would have been even more dramatic had Ronaldo not turned in his side’s third and fourth goals.

‘To be honest, I didn’t know that it would be possible to score 5 goals in a World Cup – it wasn’t in my head,’ he continued.
‘All I knew is we were
