World Series: Framber Valdez and Astros Even Series With Game 2 Win
Dodgers 4, Indians 0
The game on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium was a one-sided affair, with the Dodgers winning in extra innings, thanks mainly to a three-run homer from Carl Crawford, after the Giants had come back to get within one run in the bottom of the ninth. The Giants had a chance to go to extra innings, but after a pair of walks, Brandon Belt and Hunter Pence, the Giants had to come up with a double play to keep it from going that far.
And the Giants came back to win in extra innings, 3-2.
The Giants won the game by two runs and had the bases loaded with two outs, after the Dodgers had scored twice in the top of the eighth inning. But the Giants were able to take advantage of two miscues. The Dodgers had been able to keep the lead down the last couple of innings, but a couple of Dodger errors in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings turned in to scoring opportunities.
The main game:
The Giants took a 2-0 lead in Game 1, then went on to win, 3-1. But they still had a series split thanks to two series sweeps in 2015.
The Giants also have had two series sweeps this year in their regular season, in 2015 and 2016, with a 5-0 record in those two sweepings. They’ve also been on a two-games-to-none run on the road this year as of late (they’ve been outscored by an average of 12-9), and have been on the road for 13 of 19 games this year. In all, the Dodgers have been on the road for 15 of 19 games this year.
Game 2 of the series will be played on Friday.
There will be a Game 3 on Sunday, and if the series goes into extra innings, then Game 3 on Monday should definitely be Game 3.
The Giants are now 8-0 at home this year as a team.
The Dodgers are now 0-5 at home this season, with eight games left on the schedule.
The Dodgers are now 7-1 away from home this year as a team.
