Jamie Oliver was so annoyed by the treatment he and his staff, he decided not to return to a restaurant for a year

He was so upset he decided to stop eating and drinking for a year in an attempt to ‘heal himself’.

In a stunning display of anger and frustration, the MasterChef star, 39, said he thought it ‘was wrong’ to be treated so badly when eating out.

The outspoken celebrity chef told the Standard: ‘I was so upset and disappointed that I thought I had better learn to be ungracious.

‘I said it’s not a good idea to come back and work at my restaurant again and it’s not like the way I worked there was going to change that much – maybe I would be treated worse.’

The Mancot Hall chef was speaking on the Today programme – a programme broadcast live tonight on ITV. The programme features guests from an array of different industries and backgrounds.

The food critic, who has a three-year-old son with wife Georgie, revealed how he had been eating at the Mancot Hall restaurant with his family for 30 years, and how he was so upset that he thought he had to ‘learn to be ungracious’ after one of the waiters served his family an overcharging meal.

‘I was so angry because I saw his face,’ he told the presenter Eamonn Holmes who was interviewing him. ‘It was so painful to see.’

Oliver said that the waiter told him his wife had ordered a chicken salad and he took the plate into the kitchen to have the chef make her something else from it.

He went to the kitchen to see how his wife had been getting on. To his horror
