Raising Millions at Hollywood’s ‘Mom Prom’
It’s the latest Hollywood event for moms, but not the usual bash, the Academy Awards. Instead, it’s the annual “Mom Prom” for the Academy’s Young Artist award winners. A group of Hollywood celebrities are spending their hard-earned award money on the young artists. This year, they will be taking kids out for ice cream, going out to eat, or picking them up from school and dropping them off. This year, there are 10 Academy Award, four Young Artist awards, and one DGA Young Artist award to go around. Here’s how Hollywood treats the youth of tomorrow.

“Mom Prom” was born at the 2008 Academy Awards in honor of the Academy’s efforts to introduce young talent to the screen and to encourage women to pursue careers in film. The special Oscar event is open to all Academy members, their families, and their friends. All are welcome, but you have to be an Academy member, aged 18 or older, to attend (you can join as early as next month). This is a non-ticketed event, and ticket prices vary from year to year. There is no admission fee. Tickets are $100.00 for members, $200.00 for non-members. In 2008, over 30,000 tickets were sold, and in 2009, over 30,000 tickets were sold, and in 2010, over 29,500 tickets were sold.
