Serbian scientists name new species of beetle after Novak Djokovic, says scientist
The scientists who named the new species of beetle have published the research in the journal Plos One.
“I am so happy with this new species. No one has ever named a species after a player in a sport,” said Dr. Radul Novakovic, who was responsible for naming the new species of beetle.
“I never thought it was possible to name a new species after a player on the tennis court in my own country.”
Dr. Radul says that naming the species of beetle after a player on the tennis court was a “huge honour and a huge responsibility”.
“I am very, very happy that we managed to do it. But I feel a bit sad that I will never be able to play on the same court as Novak Djokovic.”
