Rafael Nadal says he and his family are ‘very well’ after birth of first child
Rafael Nadal is enjoying his first child, daughter Estrella, who was born on Tuesday.
Rafa was due to have three children with his former World number one player Simona Halep in the coming months, before the couple split last year after seven years.
But the tennis legend, 41, revealed on Thursday that his wife was pregnant – just one day after she had a baby girl of her own.
‘She’s very happy with the news and we are very well,’ he said of his new daughter.

Rafael and Simona had been dating since late 2013 and married in a private civil ceremony in 2013
The ‘La Verdad’ star’s daughter was born in his native Spain
Nadal also revealed that he had decided to go back to work after a year and a half off for treatment for an injury.
He said: ‘I decided to take a year off from tennis after last week’s tournament. I feel like I need to be back with work.

‘I was in a lot of pain and felt like I had problems with the tendons in my knee.
‘I had to stop tennis in order to get a special operation and have a tendon repaired.
‘Last Sunday I felt very well and I decided to come back on the court.’
The tennis star, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time, won his 22nd French Open title on Wednesday with a sensational 7-6, 7-5 victory over David Goffin.
The Spaniard has had a busy few weeks and has also been seen out in West Hollywood with a new girlfriend.
